All of our board members are volunteers and love Lodi!

Mary Jane East

President

Mary Jane East, nee Mary Jane Halstead, was born in Austin, Minnesota in 1946 and moved with her family to Lodi, California in 1950. Having been raised in Lodi from childhood through late teens, she is proudly a product of the Lodi schools. Her entire professional career of 49 years has been that of an elementary school educator. After retiring in Anchorage, Alaska in 2001 and returning to her hometown of Lodi, she has become heavily involved with the Lodi Historical Society and has served as a Board of Director with the Lodi Grape Festival since 2005. Lodi is a wonderful town steeped in history and she is proud to call it her hometown!

Judith Halstead

Publicity

Judy was born in Austin, Minnesota, and was transplanted to Lodi at age ten. A 1958 graduate of Lodi Union High School, then graduating from University of California, Davis, she later taught school for almost 40 years. “My favorite teaching now is for Valley Days students in the Calaveras County one room schoolhouse at the San Joaquin County Museum, Micke Grove.” Teaching San Joaquin County history and California history brought about an appreciation for saving historical sites such as the Lodi Union High School site, which is now Hutchins Street Square. “I look forward to seeing the site of Lodi’s first Firehouse and Town Hall on Main Street become the location for the Lodi Historical Museum and Cultural Center!”
